Back a Book Campaign Award

We love projects with a simple idea at their heart, and Manchester Central Library’s Back a Book scheme is exactly that.

Instead of sponsoring a bench or having your name on a wall, businesses and individuals could sponsor a favourite book, journal or publication from the library’s collection, helping support the Manchester Central Library Development Trust. It’s such a thoughtful idea. Personal, meaningful and a great way to connect people with one of the city’s best-loved public spaces.

We were trusted to design the award presented to every sponsor. Rather than creating something traditional, we developed a bright, contemporary design printed onto a solid Perspex block, with each piece celebrating the book chosen by its new supporter.

It’s a small project, but one we really enjoyed. Sometimes the simplest ideas are the ones people remember, and this felt like a lovely way to celebrate books, libraries and the people who value them.
